Hi there. Now we're going to go through the entire process of uploading your leads and customers to BeeHiiv and adding the merge tags for any of the data that you happen to have for them inside of your CSV. Then we're going to build your first email broadcast campaign and add all the merge tags into the email in a way that plays nicely with Feels Personal. And finally, we're going to send that email campaign to two different email addresses with totally different customer data, so you can see exactly how it's going to appear live for all of your leads and customers, and how all of the variable data is inserted into your landing page, your sales page, or any page of your marketing funnel.

So for now inside of BeeHiiv we're going to add your subscribers. We go to the Subscribers tab, we click Add Subscribers, we're going to Import, and I'm going to choose a CSV file I've already gotten prepared.

Click Next. Just to show you quickly, there's two leads in here - myself with all of this data and Eugene Schwartz. The data we're going to be importing is first name, last name, country, city, nickname (purposely left blank so you can see that even if you don't have the data now, if you know you're going to want to use these merge tags and variable placeholders in the future, you can upload it and you just simply have to update these fields inside of your ESP in the future).

We're going to add prefix, birthday, birth month, birth year, the company name, and their role inside the company as well, so you get a good idea of a whole heap of data being added. So we're going to confirm the subscriber import, and import. And now we have to add all of the merge tags.

We're going to first select each one - obviously we need all of them. BeeHiiv has basically no pre-made merge fields here, so we're going to have to make them one by one. So we select the field, then Custom Field, and it has to be a text. I've already made some in the past so you would normally just type in first name and save. I'll show you a little bit further below for a whole heap of merge data that I've never used in BeeHiiv before, but the important thing is it must be saved as text.

So what I might do is go down to one I've got saved before so you can see that. So birthday - we're going to go Custom Field, sorry, you have to select it first, then you go Custom Field, then I'm going to type in Create New Custom Field and I'm going to call it birth day, and I'm going to save it as a text. It doesn't matter if it's a number like a birthday or a year would be - you must save it as text. So save that as text.

We'll do it again so you see the process again. Click Select, yes, go to Custom Field, has to be text, so we're going to Create New Custom Field, we're going to call this one birth month, save it as text. Perfect.

Now the rest we can have added very quickly - these are ones I've used in the past. Nickname, Custom Field, nickname (why is it taking it away from here? okay, well, we'll just add it again). Birthday - so I'll just add it to your new custom field, and then I'll continue for a new custom field, Create New, birth year, has to be a text data type. Company name, Custom Field, company name, text, save. Company role, company role, text, save. So they've been created, you still got to add them there - so company name, company role, and that's perfect.

So BeeHiiv seamlessly lets you create any new merge tag that you want for any of the variable data that you have on your subscribers. So now it's just processing it, and now I have all of the new subscribers added to this plan. And now I have my two subscribers added.

So what I'm going to do is stop now, and in the next video we're going to create your first email broadcast campaign and add the merge tags to the email in a way that plays friendly with Feels Personal. So please go to that next video now.

Step 2: ~9 min

Build your first personalized email broadcast campaign with BeeHiiv and Feels Personal

What you'll learn

  • Compose your first broadcast newsletter in BeeHiiv
  • Insert a fully-functioning Feels Personal link using BeeHiiv's `{{ }}` merge tag syntax
  • Strip the URL down to a curiosity-laden display while every variable still works under the hood
Click Here To Show Full Video Transcript:Hi there. So now we're in video 2 for BeeHiiv, and in this one we're going to create your first email broadcast campaign...

Hi there. So now we're in video 2 for BeeHiiv, and in this one we're going to create your first email broadcast campaign and send it to the subscribers we just imported in video 1.

So to do that, we're going to go back and we're going to go to Newsletter, and we're going to Start Writing.

So I'm going to start from a blank draft and keep this very simple. It's going to ask us for the information - so we're going to call this one "BeeHiiv demo for Feels Personal", don't need a subtitle, and that's what we need for this part here.

Now we're going to select the audience - which is our two subscribers, well, the subscribers that we just uploaded. It's going to be email only to the two subscribers, and click Next. Now we have the email - I'm going to keep that name that we just called it, sorry.

So inside of BeeHiiv, it's back in Compose where we put all of the information. So we're going to build the email down here at the bottom. So click here to start writing - "Here is our first example". Then we're going to go down here and put "Second amazing example" - and this is because I'm going to show you two ways you can format the display URL that you send in your emails through BeeHiiv, to maximize the amount of curiosity and put steroids behind your click-through rates.

So from here we're going to go over to the Feels Personal product for a moment. So inside of Feels Personal, we're going to go to the Build My URL tab, and here you're going to select the page you're sending your traffic to. I've already created one called demo because it has all of the different placeholder variable data that we had inside the CSV sheet, and it's going to give you a great live example.

So now I'm going to click on all of the data I want to insert on this page - personalization data, their location data, the company role, their prefix, and of course the birth date data that we mapped in BeeHiiv as well. Activate that, yeah - Feels Personal gives you a full URL that you're going to copy the formatting of. So we're going to copy that URL, and we're going to bring it back to BeeHiiv.

And then I'm going to paste that URL here just so we have something to base ourselves off of. And then what we have to do is create the full URL using all of the merge tags. So I'm going to start off with https://feelspersonal.io/demo/c/ - that's up to here, that's the important part.

And now we have to start adding the personalization variables in the exact way that it appears up here. To add the different merge tags inside BeeHiiv - it's not just any bracket, but the curly bracket that you get with shift+alt+[ (at least on Windows). So two of these guys: {{.

Once that comes up, all of our custom merge tags are going to be at the very bottom of all this stuff that they've got in the platform naturally. So we need to find country - here it is, country-city. You can see it's already formatted the ones that it could at least recognize immediately up here, but I want to go through the process of showing you one time just in case.

So after country-city, it's /CR/. So /CR/, and now we need company role - so now we need company and role. So we come down to the bottom here, we've got company name-company role.

And now, just so we can keep it nice and clean, I'm going to show you that in all of the URLs you create there can never be a space. So we need to come back and start editing it so there's no space between anything - including the hyphens. There must always be a hyphen between the variables. So city, country - there can't be a space between here. Removing all the spaces as we go so we don't forget about them at the end. And I promise, while this seems a little bit annoying right now, you'll only ever have to do this once - I'll show you why towards the end of this video. So another hyphen.

So after company role - sorry, there's no hyphen here. After company role we have /PL/ prefix. So we go /PL/, and now we need prefix - so they won't let us put that next to a forward slash. So now we need to find prefix down the bottom here.

Now after prefix it becomes /BD/. So /BD/, another space. Now we're looking for birthday-birth month-birth year. So down the bottom we have birthday. Now instead of a hyphen, I'm going to put an underscore - and I'm doing that just to show you that it doesn't matter if you use underscores or hyphens between your variables. Feels Personal will be able to pass all of the information no problem. So month - just to show you this time we'll put a hyphen, so we've got underscores and hyphens in the same section. Now we go for birth year.

At the end of birth year it becomes /P/, and now we're looking for first name, last name - first name-last name. Now I'm going to go back and finish cleaning up all of the spaces from this URL.

Now it's going to be nice and clean - don't forget this one, move this guy. And one last thing you need to know about - it's best practice to finish the URL with a trailing forward slash / at the end of the URL as well. So now we have a fully formatted URL.

What do we do now? We copy all of this and now we add it as a link, paste it in, and we're good to go. So now we have a working URL.

Now I'm going to paste this below and do the same thing - copying it as the link that's embedded into all of this. Save it. Perfect. Yeah, this is the reason we have two sections here. First, I'm going to delete this because it was just for reference - we have all the working merge tags.

So what I'm going to do now is come from the end of /demo and I'm going to delete it all to the start of first name. So the link itself still works, but the display URL you're going to see - or any customer or lead is going to see - will be this: your base domain slash the page you're sending them to slash first name-last name. Which is going to merge and update by the time it hits their inbox, so they'll be seeing what appears to be a web page built just for them.

Now the second amazing example - to make it even more curiosity-laden, we're going to remove the https:// from the very beginning, and we're not even going to include the demo part. So we're going to cut all that down to first name - make sure there's only one forward slash. So we have domain URL slash first name-last name. It's going to be incredibly curiosity-provoking by the time it hits their inbox, and your click-through rates are going to explode like wildfire.

So I'll add one more line. Let's see. And now that's all we need to do. I am going to click Next. You can go through and preview and send test emails if you'd like to, but I know this is going to work so I'm not worried. We've got the lines and everything, we don't need any socials. I'm going to review it from here - everything's okay. So now I'm going to schedule and send it. We'll do that in the next video. I'll see you in that video.

Step 3: ~8 min

Send and verify your BeeHiiv email campaign works perfectly with Feels Personal in 2 live inboxes!

Click Here To Show Full Video Transcript:Okay, this is part three of our videos for BeeHiiv - and how you upload your customers and leads to the platform...

Okay, this is part three of our videos for BeeHiiv - and how you upload your customers and leads to the platform, add all of the custom merge tags for all the variable data you'd like to send, creating your first campaign and adding all the merge tags into that email campaign so they play nicely with Feels Personal. That's what we've just finished, and in this video we're now going to send the email we just created.

So I'm going to hit the Schedule button, we're going to publish it immediately. I'm going to Publish Now, and I'm going to pause the video. In a second we're going to come back and I'll show you the live results once these have been sent out by the platform.

Okay, we're back, the emails have been sent. I just want to point out something very quickly - in the preview below you can't see any of the merge tag data. Don't worry about that at all, that's just the way the platform works. They don't know which lead they're sending or should be displaying this link for, so nothing comes up.

So now we're going to swap over to the two inboxes that receive these emails of totally different customer data, so you can see how it works in the real world.

So we're going to the first inbox, we have the BeeHiiv demo. You can see the link has been populated with first name-last name as we set up in the email campaign. Same for this awesome amazing second example that doesn't even have the https:// at the beginning. So this one here is the demo page slash first name-last name, whereas this one is literally the base URL or domain URL slash first name-last name. These really do look like links made just for your individual customer or lead.

Yeah, just as a quick reminder before we view the live page, this one should read Australia, Sydney, Zachery Vellis, and the 29th of February, 1990. And I'm a marketer for Google. So that's what we're expecting to see as the user clicks this link.

And there you have it. All of the fields have been populated perfectly with their variable data - Zachery, prefix, last name, location data. I'm a marketer for Google and I have the leap year birthday of 29th of February. So now we're going to go back, I'll close that page. And now we'll click the second link just so you can see that it's working as well. And there you have it - all populated perfectly. And now we'll close this down.

And I will go to the other inbox, which has the email here as well. So if I come down, you can already see that the first and last name tags have been merged. All of the live data is in there for Eugene Schwartz. We'll have one quick look at that lead or customer again so we remember the data. This time the exact same page is going to show USA and Seattle. We're going to have the 18th of March, 1927. And this time, Mr. Schwartz is a copywriter who's working for Anthropic. So let's check out the link.

And there you have it - populated perfectly again. Exact same web page, our /demo page, except this customer or this lead has seen his own personal page, totally personalized just to him. First name, prefix, last name, location data, his company role, the company he works with, and his date of birth. So it's worked for BeeHiiv.

Before we go, I'm going to show you a quick bonus as well. When we were back in BeeHiiv, we had to copy down all of these different merge tags. So what we're going to do is actually go back to the campaign we just sent out. I'm going to duplicate it, and then I'm going to edit this duplication. And what we're going to do is come down to the link - not this one here, but we're going to edit the one that we inserted, the one with all of the different merge tag data. We're going to copy it all, and we're going to paste it just here below. I'll make it clear what it is.

Why are we doing this? Well, as I promised you - you only ever have to set up the merge tags once. Once you've uploaded your CSV, you've lined up all the merge tags, you've created all new ones, you've now put it into your first broadcast email campaign. I admit, it was probably a little bit of a pain in the ass having to go through this process - but you only ever have to do it once.

What we're going to do now is go over to the Feels Personal product itself. Inside of Feels Personal, we're going to go down to the ESP Variables tab. And from this box here, you're going to select BeeHiiv, and you're going to Apply ESP. Now, when we update these lists that come pre-built inside of Feels Personal, we can only add the merge tags that we know exist and will work for everybody. So that's why there's only the first name and the last name. But it's going to be very simple to copy over the rest - that's why we put the link here in the email when we were editing it, so we'd have all the information in front of us.

So what I'm going to do is start with - let's start with this one, country name. Copy it all over, paste into country, update it. Do the same for city, update it. I won't bore you with all of these. So I'm going to pause the video and come back when they are all filled out.

Okay, I filled out all the data for all of the fields that we used in our broadcast campaign - except of course nickname. But that just shows that you can come back at any time, once you've added that merge tag to BeeHiiv and actually filled in data for all of your leads or customers, and insert it here.

Now, why have we done this? Well, as I said - now you're able to come to the Build My URL tab, you can select the page that you want to send your traffic to, select all the data that we embedded into the last broadcast email campaign. And then this time, set the birth date data as well. And instead of giving you a general format of a URL, Feels Personal now saves all of the merge tags that you've added to BeeHiiv on the ESP Variables tab. And now you have a link that is perfectly ready to go.

So every time you're going to send a broadcast email out to your list of customers or leads, all you need to know is which variable data you are embedding on the email and your marketing funnel page for that broadcast email. Come down, select all the data that you wish to use, simply copy the URL. And now you can go back to BeeHiiv and just paste this URL straight into the email, and play with it however you want.

You never have to sit down and type all this out or find the merge tags ever again. It was a one-time job - the very first broadcast email you ever sent. After that, you come and update it inside Feels Personal, and now you never have to do it again. It's all automatic and ready for you to go.

So I hope that these three videos have given you a clear explanation. We now know how to upload your lead and customer list to BeeHiiv, how to merge the new variable data as tags inside of BeeHiiv. We've gone on and created our first email campaign. We've added all of these new merge tags of variable data to that email, seeing that you can add just about any data that you want for your customers. If you have the data, it can be placed into the email, and it can subsequently be placed onto your marketing funnel pages.

We've then seen live examples of the product functioning perfectly for two totally different sets of lead data on a live demo web page itself.

So all that's left is for you to go away and follow these instructions and start experiencing great successes. I really do hope you start sending me your stories of the rocket fuel power added to your click-through rates by having such curiosity-laden URLs inside of your very next broadcast email campaign. And also, tell me all about how much more your conversion rates have exploded on-page now that you've got fully personalized pages being sent to every single person on your list. Thank you very much for watching this video.
